Bacari Playa Del Rey

Pardon The Punctuation...over the weekend I had the pleasure of heading down to Playa Del Rey to check out a quaint little spot called Bacari PDR.  Great location...perfect for after the beach or even a date with that special someone.  Took my wife and sat on the patio which is pet friendly so my fur baby "Indie" got to come along for the ride.  Here's the best of what I had.

Cocktails

Black Manhattan: Just a perfectly balanced Manhattan...the way the foodie likes it.

Old Cuban: Rum, mint, lime, simple syrup, and champagne.  Taste almost like a fizzy mojito.  Extremely refreshing and tasty.

Food

Burrata Di Gioia: Marinated calabrese baby artichoke, grilled sourdough, and ground black pepper.  Perfect way to start the meal with perfectly toasted sourdough.  The burrata is top notch and a great portion size.

Charcuterie: Midnight moon cheese, parmigiano reggiano, and salame calabrese.  I could eat that blue moon cheese every meal of the day.  The dutch know their cheese.

Seared Scallops: with market corn, smashed cherry tomato, and scallion.  Seared to perfection and with probably enough butter to drown a village.....so in other words I loved it.  Delicious.

Noa's Cauliflower: Smoked Chipotle sauce and mixed greens.  Perfectly cooked and the chipotle sauce was a nice touch.

Glazed Pork Belly Skewers: Slow cooked, sweet mulling spice, and umami reduction.  Like little pork lollipops of sweet perfection.  Melt in your mouth amazingness.  A must have!!!!!

Dessert

Bread Pudding: warm and served with vanilla bean ice cream.  A little too sweet but still hit the spot.

Brown Butter Cookie Dough: Cardamon chocolate ganache,  banana brulee, candied walnuts, and hand-whipped cream.  Very innovative and creative dessert.  Served in a DIY way so you can make the flavors your own.  That chocolate ganache should be packaged and sold on its own.

Malabi: Rosewater custard, shaved coconut, hibiscus flower syrup, and ground pistachio.  Talk about a delicious, fresh, and floral dessert.  The rose water was refreshing while the hibiscus was a softening touch to the dish.  Highly recommended.

So whether you're on a date or with your mate, Bacari PDR is the ideal place to hit up in Playa Del Rey. Don't forget to bring your pooch...they'll love it too.
