Pardon The Punctuation...Fred 62 is a kinda famous 24 hour diner in Los Angeles. It was one of the first places I ate at when I moved here 9 years ago. Always had a solid menu with great breakfast food.
The breakfast burrito is something I discovered when I moved to LA. Probably my favorite item to order in the morning. Fred 62 had by far the greatest breakfast burrito in the city. Stuffed with chorizo and smothered with the most delicious habanero sauce. The sauce was perfect and kept all of the habanero flavor without the spicy heat. So you can imagine the feeling I had when I drove all the way over to Fred 62 craving my favorite burrito..FYI it's not close to my house...and I saw the menu was new and that amazing burrito sent down from heaven had been changed on the menu. WTF!!!! I gave the new one a shot to see if they could improve the original egg filled tortilla perfection. Only when "coca cola classic" switched to "coke" has there been a bigger blunder in the food world. It was mediocre at best. Covered in some generic "ranchero sauce." A complete waste of time. After thinking about it I want to thank Fred 62 for making it so I never have to spend my money or time at their establishment.
On a side note the service was also miserable. The server didn't bring water to the table until the end of the meal even though we asked for it several times. The place wasn't ever busy. Can they redeem themselves? It's a long shot. But like when Jack Horner switches from film to video tape at the end of "Boogie Nights" Fred 62's "films suck now!" They need to revamp the revamped menu and this time take the "suck" out of it.
