Pardon the Punctuation...If you happen to be stuck in the Detroit area for any amount of time, here is a little place that might help bring a smile to your face. SLOWS Bar B. Q. is where to go for great BBQ and beer in the motor city. Once a year I'm forced to be in Detroit and SLOWS is one of the only things I look forward to. In what looks like a a former abandoned building sits this palace of ribs, pork, beef and chicken. You can find everything from Carolina pulled pork to St Louis spareribs and the hardest decision you'll make in this town is what to order at SLOWS. On my last trip there I went with the "You Choose" option which allowed me to order the Carolina pulled pork, a half slab of baby back ribs and sides of cornbread, MAC-N-Cheese, and waffle fries. This combination is highly recommended as it has been my "go to" for the past 3 years when in town. You can accompany your yummy food with over 30 beers and great wine. Every thing from local Michigan micro brews to some of the best Belgian ales that money can buy.
The Ribs: Coated with a tasty 13 spice dry rub and smoked to perfection. Fall right off the bone
Carolina Pulled Pork: Rubbed with a sweet and spicy seasoning, they are smokes and dressed with sauce. Taste like hanging in South Carolina at my local BBQ spot.
Cornbread: Not too sweet and served with fresh butter. A nice add on to the pork.
MAC-N-Cheese: Just delicious and crunchy on top.
Waffle Fries: You can't go wrong with the fresh waffle fries here. Not too greasy and super crunchy.
If you're in Detroit and have a frown SLOWS will flip it upside down.
