Nine years ago my life was changed forever. My dog "Indie" was adopted and things would never be the same. He has enriched my life and always brings a smile to anyone who meets him. It's important to me to be able to help facilitate the possibility of someone enriching their lives the same way that I did with pet adoption. That's why I take time out of my busy TV schedule to volunteer at the local rescue. Saving the life of an animal can save your life in more ways than you could ever imagine.
Before I can make my way to the rescue I have my morning ritual.
Get a good stretch in the morning. I love to stretch with my dog as he does it. They call it " Downward Dog" for a reason. If I stretch with him I never forget to do it. He holds me accountable without even knowing he's doing it.
Find a good affirmation to get you in a positive state of mind before heading out the door. A thought or quote to point your day in the right direction. Something to wipe the slate clean from the day before.
Wear clothes that you're not afraid of getting dirty in. You're going to be surrounded by animals all day and they can have an accident. It's always better to wear something you won't be upset about if you have to throw it in the garbage at the end of the day.
Last but not least I have a cup of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Nantucket Blend or Caramel Vanilla Cream while sitting with Indie. I like to drink a coffee that's rich and smooth to help make the rest of my day "rich and smooth". Sitting with him and loving on him reminds me of why I need to go and support these animals. Once he hears the Keurig machine turn on he knows it's time for us to sit outside. He runs over and waits by the patio door so he can keep me company while I have my cup of coffee.
It's important to support causes that are meaningful to us in order to "do good" and provide support to the community and world around us. What better way than starting your day with a good cup of coffee, and supporting a brand that also does its part to help the greater world?! Get out to Walmart today and check out the great selection of Green Mountain Coffee pods, and don't forget to "do good"!
